The Company was established in 1948 in Mumbai under the name of Toplis & Harding (Eastern) Pvt. Ltd. and was functioning as a branch office of Toplis & Harding (London).
The main activities carried out by the company in those days were:
- Insurance Surveys (Marine, Non Marine including Aviation, Loss of Profit , Banker's Indemnity, Fire, Engineering)
- Claim Settling
- Valuation of Assets
In the year 1972 when General Insurance in India was nationalised, the London Partners transferred their interest in the management to the Senior-most Director of the Branch and the Name of Company was changed to Universal Surveyors & Adjusters Pvt. Ltd.
Subsequent to nationalisation, the Primary Focus of Activities of the Company is as follows:
- Appraisal & Valuation of all Fixed Assets - Land, Buildings, Plant & Machinery, Electrical Installation, etc.
- Balance Technical Life estimation of Plant & Machinery based on Past Utilization, Present Performance, Major Overhauls,
Reconditioning carried out
- Analysis of redevelopment potential of existing Land / Buildings
- Feasibility Study of bifurcation of existing setup into separate Strategic Business Units including estimation of investments
required for balancing equipment, new equipment, relocation costs, etc.
- Facilities Planning
- Asset Impairment Studies
- Quantification & Inventory Preparation of Buildings, Plant & Machinery, Utilities & Services
- Reconstruction of Asset Register for implementation of ERP Systems
- Codification of Assets for ease of Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Accounts, Finance, etc.
We have over the years valued the assets of almost all the sectors of Manufacturing and Service Industries. Most of these assignments are in the large cap industries including Steel & Ferro Alloys, Petrochemicals & Chemical Process Industries, Cement & Fertilizer Plant, Automobiles, Constructions, Heavy Engineering, etc. In these exercises we have worked closely with some of the top Auditing and Business Consultancy firms in the country.

Ramp Equipment, Cambata Aviation – 14 years, Insurance Surveyor,
Valuer and Consultant since 1974.
Registered with CBDT as Registered Valuer for Valuation of Plant &
Machinery.
The Board is supported by qualified & experienced staff/associates covering all the core areas of Engineering.
The Company is empanelled as Approved Valuers in the Directory of Industrial Consultants of IDBI, IFCI and ICICI. Also we are in the Panel of Valuers of SBI for Valuation of all Assets
We have also handled Valuation Jobs for the Government like Valuation of Seamless Tubes Division of Nuclear Fuel Corporation at Hyderabad and the Valuation of HMT's Tractor Division at Pinjore, Mohali & Hyderabad. Our reports are made use of by our Clients to submit to PWD, NHAI, Mumbai Port Trust, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, etc.
